Charges have been dropped against the three Middle Eastern men who inadvertently touched off a terrorism scare at the Port of Miami. Federal investigators and a bomb squad were called in yesterday over what officials now say was a miscommunication -- and a language barrier. Police say a port security officer became suspicious when their truck approached a checkpoint and the driver didn't produce the right paperwork. Charles Griffith calls into the show relating Schiavo case to his own taking of his daughter's life in 1985 3-28-2005

Florida police yesterday charged a Miami man with murdering his three-year-old daughter Joy by shooting her to death while she lay in a hospital crib with irreversible brain damage. Police said Charles Griffith, 24, walked into the nursery at Miami Children's Hospital late at night, leaned over his daughter's bed and fired two shots into her chest from a small handgun. The girl died almost instantly. Griffith, a projectionist at a movie theatre, then put down the gun and surrendered to hospital guards. Police said he apparently was distraught over his daughter's irreversible comatose condition. ""At the moment, we're looking at this as a probable mercy killing," police spokesman Jerry Rung said. ""It's a tragic situation." The blonde, blue-eyed child was brain-damaged in October when she was nearly strangled after her neck got caught in the footrest of a reclining chair at her grandmother's Miami home.
