A flight attendant for U.S. Airways partner Republic Airways forgot to take a loaded gun out of her carry-on bag before boarding a flight to Dallas, according to NBC10.

TSA officials at the Philadelphia International Airport reportedly noticed the weapon, a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson Airweight revolver, when the woman’s bags were being checked by security.  They immediately contacted police, who took the woman into a secondary screening room.

But that’s when the real mayhem began.

In an effort to “secure” the gun, the police officer reportedly tried to unload it– and accidentally fired into a TSA break room where one employee was sitting.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

One passenger was skeptical of the claim.  “You would expect she would be more vigilant about the fact she travels so much, that it should be second nature to her to basically check it out and check her bags out before coming to the airport,” traveler Brian Saldanha commented.
